According to the General Department of Customs, the value of Vietnam's exports of fruits and vegetables in November 2022 reached $306.1 million, up 17.5% from November 2021 but down 1.2% from November 2021.
The value of vegetables and fruits exported in the first 11 months of 2022 totaled $3.06 billion, a 6% decrease from the same period in 2021.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade's Import and Export Department expects that fruit and vegetable exports will rise in December 2022 as a result of increased demand over the Lunar New Year holiday and a gradual rise in the number of vehicles performing customs clearance procedures for export to China.
Since China has historically been the primary export destination for Vietnam's fruit and vegetable sector, a dramatic increase in exports to that country will support fruit and vegetable exports in a good direction.
With this growth momentum, the general secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (Vinafruit), Dang Phuc Nguyen, claims that fruit and vegetable exports are unlikely to reach $3.5 billion in 2022 and are more likely to be between $3.1 and $3.2 billion, which would represent a 10% drop from 2021.
