Fruit and vegetable exports exceed over $4 billion in nine months

Fruit and vegetable exports in the past nine months are predicted to reach $4.1 billion, up nearly 70% and 24% higher than last year, according to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association.

The nine-month export value surpassed $3.34 billion revenue recorded in the whole-year 2022.

With the result, 2023 fruit and vegetable exports may reach more than $5.5 billion, according to Dang Phuc Nguyen General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association.

In the third and fourth quarters of 2023, the value reached nearly $7.6 million, mainly because of the abundant supply of fruit for export orders.

Durian exports have reached nearly $1.3 billion, of which exports to the Chinese market account for about 90% of the total fruit and vegetable export turnover.

China is the top importer of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, with total transaction reaching $2.3 billion in eight months, a 134% increase over the same time previous year and accounting for 64% of the global market share.

The US market came in second with more than $168 million in turnover, down more than 6% year on year, followed by the Republic of Korea with $148 million, up 18%, and Japan with $123 million, up 6%.
