Vietnam’s state-run Electricity of Vietnam warned to stop purchasing electricity from households generating power with rooftop solar panels that use inverters displaying China's illegal nine-dash line.

The corporation found imported solar power inverters that use software with reference to illegal nine-dash line. The company is therefore determined to eliminate it.

The Electricity of Vietnam Group's Southern Power Corporation reported the solar inverters made in foreign countries using software to keep track the solar energy system display China's illegal nine-dash line in the southern market.

The state-owned firm announced the nine-dash line seriously violates Vietnam’s sovereignty. It requested its subordinates to check software and equipment as well as technique document to eliminate those with illegal nine-dash line.

Households installing solar inverters displaying nine-dash line must remove it and install the new ones. The company will not buy power from anyone disobeying the regulation.

The company will disseminate the information of nine-dash line in its portal and other media to prevent customers from buying such equipment.

In related development, Vietnam’s authority decided to fine Volkswagen AG’s local distributor and an importer $860-$1,724 for showcasing a car with a navigation app reflecting the illegal nine-dash line which covers most of the East sea.

CJ CGV Vietnam was also fined $7,400 for screening movie “Abominable” that includes the argued nine-dash line on the East Sea.

The firm submitted the licensing proposal for the movie in early August and premiered on October 4.

A few days after the first screening, Vietnamese viewers discovered the image of the nine-dash line in the movie. Later, the cinema operator was asked to withdraw all information of the movie and halt screening it from October 13.
