EVN gets approval to invest in a 1.2bln thermal power plant

The project has a total investment capital investment of VND27.596 billion ($1.2 billion)

Including a land area of about 8,342 hectares, with a capacity of 1,050 MW and a total preliminary investment of about VND27,596 billion. The investor's contributed capital is VND9,926 billion, and the mobilized capital is VND17,670 billion.

This is a project with the goal of building a combined-cycle power plant,  to provide a stable power source for the South region in particular and the power system in general.

The plant is expected to start construction in the first quarter of 2025, begin receiving gas in the third quarter of 2027; trial operation and commercial power generation in the fourth quarter of 2027.

In addition to the O Mon III thermal power project, EVN is also the investor in the O Mon I thermal power project (with a capacity of 660 MW) and the O Mon IV thermal power project (with a capacity of 1,050 MW).
