Covid-19 patient tally hits 652, death toll hits 7

10 new Covid-19 cases were reported this morning, bringing the patient tally to 652, according to the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

The new patients include six patients, one medical worker in Da Nang Hospital and three others having close contact with active coronavirus patient.

Seven live in Da Nang while three in the neighboring province of Quang Nam.

Patients 643-645 from Quang Nam are aged between 35 and 67. Of these, one received treatment and two others contracted the virus from a patient at the Da Nang Hospital.

Patients 646-652 from Da Nang are aged between 30 and 68. They include a health worker at the Da Nang Hospital while five others were patients and the remainder came in contact with a person who was later confirmed positive for Covid-19.

Of the patient tally, 205 new cases are linked to the outbreak in Da Nang.

A 62-year-old woman in Da Nang was confirmed dead on Tuesday morning. She had suffered final-staged kidney failure and Covid-19. Death toll has risen to seven in Vietnam, said Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son, Head of the Covid-19 Special Anti-epidemic Section.

The woman had 10-year history of chronic kidney failure, and was treated at the Department of Internal Medicine at Da Nang Hospital from July 18 to July 27.

She was transferred to Hue Central Hospital for treatment from July 30.
