The two Cambodia returnees through Moc Bai border gate in Southern province of Tay Ninh showed fever, cough, shortness of breath, and were put under quarantine at Tay Ninh General Hospital.
Patient No. 117, aged 30, who resides in Tan Hung district, Long An, went to Phnom Penh from March 9 and returned home country with fever, cough. The chest X-ray shows his lung has been partly damaged.
Patient No. 118, aged 23, who is a permanent resident of Mekong Delta’s Chau Phu district, An Giang province, works in a casino in Cambodia. In the past two weeks, she went to Cambodia to work at Galaxy casino.
The patient entered Vietnam through Moc Bai border gate and was quarantined while she had fever, cough, shortness of breath.
The woman was sent to the General Hospital of Tay Ninh province. On admission, the X-ray image showed her lung has been damaged.
Earlier Monday, the ministry reported three new cases. One of these new patients is a doctors who might have contracted the disease from his patients.
Border closed
Last week, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen shut down the border with Vietnam, a prompt action to prevent the virus.
“The duration of the closure depends on Vietnam. They protect their people, so we need to protect ours because coronavirus also broke out in Vietnam,” the premier was cited by the Khmer Times.
The prime minister called Vietnamese people in the Kingdom not to leave Cambodia and Cambodians in Vietnam not to leave Vietnam to limit the spread of virus.
Vietnam had locked down its borders with Cambodia and imposed a month-long entry ban to all foreign travelers, except for diplomats.
