American man traveling to 8 countries tested with coronavirus in Vietnam

A 41-year old American man, who had traveled to eight countries, has become the 68th COVID-19 patient in Vietnam after arriving in Da Nang on weekend, the Ministry of Health said.

The tourist had been in India, Spain, Morocco, Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, and Singapore between February 11 and March 14, before entering Vietnam through Da Nang International Airport on Silkair flight MI632.

The central region of Vietnam, he had virus tested at the Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang and came up with positive result.

Earlier, a Vietnamese man, aged 36, who lives in the central province of Ninh Thuan’s Thuan Nam District, was confirmed as the 67th COVID-19 patient in Vietnam, the ministry said.

The man and a 42-year old man in Ninh Thuan, the 61st patient left Vietnam for Malaysia on February 27 and came back to Ho Chi Minh City on flight VJ826 on March 4.

So far, Vietnam has confirmed 68 coronavirus patients, of whom 16 had been cleared of the virus and discharged from hospitals. The government has decided to halt visa issuance to foreigners.
