Several global corporations, including Aeon, Uniqlo (Japan); Walmart, Amazon, Boeing, AES (USA), Carrefour, Decathlon (France); Central Group (Thailand); IKEA (Sweden), will participate in the upcoming international goods supply chain connection event in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Ta Hoang Linh, Director of the European-American Market Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), Vietnam has undergone significant transformation to become a key global manufacturing hub, delivering a diverse range of high-quality products at affordable costs.
Many multinational firms and retail distributors, in particular, have chosen Vietnam as a crucial site in the global supply chain to diversify their supply chains and assure a sustainable supply.
The Vietnam International Sourcing 2023 will provide an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to network with major distributors and importers from across the world in order to identify collaboration opportunities, exchange information, and receive insights from experienced professionals. Walmart Group, the world's largest hypermarket chain, in particular, is looking to increase its position in Vietnam by establishing a new purchasing channel, according to Linh.
According to Mr. Tran Phu Lu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center, the entire import-export turnover of commodities by city firms declined by more than 20% year on year, while exports decreased by 15.3% in the first eight months of the year.
