Officials remove 5,200 online stores seeking profits from virus fears

As of February 24, the agency has inspected nearly 465,000 stores selling medical masks and hand sanitizer on e-commerce platforms Sendo.vn, Shopee.vn, Lazada.vn, Tiki.vn , Chotot.com.

Officials removed 5,200 stores that selling 21,000 products with high prices. Authorities said Shopee and Sendo were two e-commerce platforms with many stores increasing prices when selling masks and hand sanitizer, taking advantage of epidemic.

The e-commerce platform that have the highest number of violated shops was Shopee with more than 3,400 stores while Sendo was found to have with nearly 3,000 shops.

Between January 31 and February 23, market management officials and departments inspected and found more than 5,000 violations related to the medical equipment business.
