TC Cheng as Circle K new General Director, effective October 30, 2025

Circle K Vietnam has announced a major leadership shakeup as it gears up for an aggressive expansion in Southeast Asia’s bustling retail market.

The convenience store giant has appointed TC Cheng as its new General Director, effective October 30, 2025, with a clear mandate: double the company’s footprint to 1,000 stores.

The appointment marks a pivotal shift in strategy for the brand. In his new role, Cheng will oversee all operations for Circle K Vietnam, focusing on a three-pronged strategy of innovating store models, elevating customer experience, and driving digital transformation to solidify the chain's market leadership.

Circle K is betting on deep experience to navigate its next growth phase. Cheng brings 35 years of international retail expertise to the table, having held senior executive positions across Taiwan, mainland China, and Malaysia.

His resume covers a diverse spectrum of the retail landscape, ranging from convenience stores and pharmacies to supermarkets, hypermarkets, and e-commerce platforms. According to the company, Cheng possesses specialized expertise in supply chain management, franchise licensing, site development, and personnel training—skills expected to bring a "breath of fresh air" to the Vietnam operations.

The leadership change comes as Circle K looks to capitalize on its current momentum. The chain currently operates a network of over 500 stores, a foothold that Cheng views as merely the starting line.

“The milestone of over 500 stores today is a crucial foundation for us to aim for 1,000 stores in the next strategic phase,” Cheng said in a statement regarding his appointment.

“I look forward to working with the Circle K team and partners to continue optimizing operations... and bringing superior convenience to customers nationwide,” he added.

The company stated that Cheng's appointment reaffirms its commitment to high-quality retail service and community connection. Under his leadership, the brand plans to deepen its presence in major metropolitan hubs while simultaneously expanding into developing regions across Vietnam.
