The 4th solo exhibition of artist Nguyen Ngoc-Phuong entitled 'CÁI ĐẦU' (Heafod), featuring a series of 19 works.

Seeking truth beyond the visible and the tangible, Nguyen Ngoc-Phuong offers profound perspectives on our social consciousness as determined and reflected by our social being, through his own interpretation of a completely new medium that has never existed before. His works give viewers many aspects to think about.

In the 'CÁI ĐẦU' (Heafod) series, Nguyen Ngoc-Phuong's improvised techniques on lacquer panel and/or wood slab are the use of the very low-relief-like dense field of dark color applied in vigorous painterly portions, accompanied by intangible linear or non-linear contours and humanoid silhouettes of obsessive simulacra on gray blurred backgrounds, while the headlike forms seem to be floated at random, longingly.

Artist Yen Nang said that this exhibition has two new elements. Most of the latest works that he presents this time are a combination of lacquers, synthetic adhesives, gold leaf, silver leaf, hard-medium-soft rock deposits, soapstone, unconsolidated colluvial soil, soft or loose soil, and other 'found material' on fiberboard. With his strong creative ability and his masterliness of art media, he created a new medium which has never existed before, suitable for his artistic idiosyncrasy, with an eponymous medium that could be named 'Nguyen Ngoc-Phuong'.

And this is also a cornerstone for his newness in visual art. His art is a combination of marks and strokes, both accidental and active, which later become more emphatic and proactive, like scratches and cuts on the skin. The brushstrokes and inner impulses merge into one on the substrate and surface, creating a strong sense of interaction and catalyst with the viewer. This is also the result of his creative consciousness, he actively does not want to bear the traces of any art master. By the time of this solo exhibition, Nguyen Ngoc Phuong's creative strength and virtu have earned him the status of an established artist.
