Hau Giang Pharmaceutical has reported a 12% increase in revenue and a 31% increase in profit in the first quarter due to an increase in sales amid coronavirus fears.

The drug producer reported first-quarter revenue of VND858 billion ($36.4 million), up 12% over the same period last year while gross profit increased by 26% to VND423 billion ($18 million).

According to the company the increasing demand for drugs due to the COVID-19 pandemic contributed much to the sales. With the above results, the company completed 27% of the year's profit plan.

Besides, the company’s good sales network and customer service that focuses on selling key products, helped increasing the profit. It implemented projects to increase labor productivity and production efficiency to reduce costs.

DHG Pharma plans 2020 consolidated net revenue at VND3,866 billion ($164 million) and VND720 billion ($30.5 million) pre-tax profit, almost the same in compared to 2019. The drug maker’s total assets at the end of the first quarter stood at VND4,200 billion ($178.2 million).
