Vietnamese auto firm THACO shipped 36 semi-trailers manufactured in its plant in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone to the US, one of the world's most demanding markets for quality, the company said.

The shipment marked the local automaker’s success in “swimming against the stream” from selling vehicles, mechanical parts, and components to the strict foreign market, penetrating and participating a bit deeper into the global supply chain.

The 36 semi-trailers are part of the order of 69 units THACO will export to the market through PITTS Enterprises, which is expected to coordinate with the local firm in designing and manufacturing new products to meet customer demands for bigger market share in the US.

The company has been helping the local auto firm to gain access to the US market by working together in making research, survey, and signing a memorandum of understanding on the cooperation in manufacturing and distributing semi-trailers.

PITTS Enterprises is one of the 15 major trailer manufacturers in North America. It has a history of more than 100 years.

Besides this shipment, in April 2020, THACO exported two specialized semi-trailers carrying 54feet wooden houses to the US. The product can cover a maximum load of 27 tons. This type of trailer is designed to transport several different types of bungalows.

THACO will ship an additional 33 semi-trailers to PITTS Enterprises in June and continue to fulfill the production commitments signed in February 2020. The company is planning to export to Japan, Australia, and ASEAN countries.
