Vietnam's state oil firm, PetroVietnam, and Sembcorp Utilities of Singapore have signed a deal to develop offshore wind projects for exporting electricity to Singapore.

The agreement was witnessed by Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Sembcorp's Deputy Chairman, Tow Heng Tan. Along with the development of offshore wind farms, the agreement also includes the construction of a submarine power transmission line between the two countries.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister has welcomed Sembcorp's investment plans in the country, including the development of Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) in the country in collaboration with Bexamex Group.

Sembcorp is planning to expand its VSIPs to Nghe An and Lang Son provinces and establish offshore wind farms in Vietnam for exporting energy to Singapore.

To ensure the successful implementation of the projects, relevant ministries, agencies, and localities will collaborate with Sembcorp to carry out necessary procedures. Additionally, the Prime Minister suggested Sembcorp provide comments on the amendment and adjustment of the draft Land Law.

The Deputy Chairman of Sembcorp has affirmed the group's commitment to expanding its operations in Vietnam and continuing its cooperation with the country on VSIP and renewable energy projects. The agreement was signed during Prime Minister Pham's three-day official visit to Singapore, starting on February 8th.
