HDBank targets 2025 profit at a billion US dollars

Ho Chi Minh City Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank aims to grow higher profits in the next 5 years and reach a billion-dollar in 2025, bank’s leaders told investors.

The bank's management expects operating income to increase from 23 percent to 25 percent compared to 2021, profitability targets are among the highest in the industry.

Revenue from the insurance business will be three times higher than the same period of last year. The lender has much room to grow thanks to its competitive advantage in second-class cities and rural markets, where people's income has been improved.

In the five-year period, HDBank plans to increase pre-tax profit by an average of over 25 percent each year, and by 2025 is estimated to reach about $1 billion. 2022 dividend will not be lower than in previous years. In 2021, HDBank paid a dividend of 25 percent.

In 2021, HDBank's pre-tax profit reached VND8,070 billion, an increase of 39 percent, beating the whole-year plan by 11 percent. ROE and ROA reached 23.3 percent and 1.9 percent respectively, higher than the previous year.

As of end-2021, the bank's total assets stood at more than VND374,000 billion, an increase of 17 percent compared to the same period last year. Equity reached VND30,790 billion, an increase of 25 percent.

HDB share was traded at VND27,450 apiece on Tuesday.
